Well the cold monster has finally got me. I am suffering from a sinus cold, and not happy about it. This time last year I was walking on the beaches of Galveston, and coming down with a stomach flu, but wouldn't know it until hours later after I had eaten seafood at an oceanside eatry and then went back to our room to hang out for awhile before the New Year.
The seafood and the flu caught up with me and we never left the room the rest of the night. Poor husband was left to watch the ball drop on tv while I snored and then ran to the bathroom all night. Guess that just goes to show you, it doesn't matter if you are in Michigan or beside the ocean, if you are sick, you are sick and on New Year's eve it sucks! LOL!!!
Happy New Year!! May 2010 be a better year for us alll!

Good Evening non-existant followers (other than the 1 dear soul who is there sometimes!)
Today was a frustrating experiment in how much can you run around and do without getting much done. At least it seemed that way. I managed to show up at my local health center for the minimally invasive test I must now have once every two years in which I have to have fleshy parts of my body squeezed flat to eliminate the suspicion of cancer. I should not mock this ceremony, as I lost one of my best friends to this horror of cancers not even two years ago, and have watched several others in this community also struggle and lose their struggles with the same dreaded scourge. Still, the idea of hoisting the ta-tas onto the little table and watching the technician lower the plexi-glass shelf onto that unsuspecting lump until they can't possibly smash it any flatter without splitting it, just makes me cringe every time. Honestly, the pain is tolerable, in regards to things like childbirth and chest pain related to sleep apnea, but it just somehow doesn't seem very dignified to be there helpless with your t*t in a ringer!.
Ok done with the graphics hope I didn't lose any future followers with that one!! LOL!! This will disappear in the blur of past blogs quicker than a blink, so don't worry about it, and I promise to not linger over such subjects.
After meeting my ex-boss, but still good friend at Nina's Tanqueria for a wonderful meal of Carne Adobada, Spanish Rice, Refried Beans with all the trimmings, (no I didn't get a picture, but I eat there quite regularly, so I will post pictures soon) ordering new eye glasses, (ouch, my insurance only covers that much?) and stopping to get fresh chocolate to make chocolate covered pretzels, fortune cookies and possibly peanuts, I ran off to the hairdressers and promply got my hair both lightened considerably, (hides the grey without an all over dye-job) and chopped all the way up to my collar. Mind you, I haven't had a haircut other than my bangs since May, so much ended up on the cutting room floor. Both my daughter (who met up with me for a cut of her own) and my hairdresser kept asking me, "Are you sure?", and I responded with a resounding yes!! Most people here do not cut their hair short in winter, but I'm not normal, and am tired of the incessant shampooing/drying/curling and then throwing it all back in a head band to keep it out of my face. Headbands and eyeglass frames don't play nice together behind one's ears either, and I have dealt with the pinch/pain long enough. So, it will be a new year, and I have a new look already! Actually in looking at the day, I did get a lot done, I just have too much to do over all!!! So it's time to quit messing around on this blog and get things done!! LOL!!
Favorite song for the day: Son of a Son of a Sailor, Jimmy Buffett (Heard it twice today and not on my iPod.)

Mmm!! Doesn't that look good?? I have developed a really healthy addiction to Cuban food over the past couple of years!! Since it is really hard to find good Cuban food in Michigan, I have taken to scouring the web in search of this wonderful cuisine, and am happily sharing recipes in the new group I just created on Polyvore. I know, it's an art and fashion website, but anything goes these days, as it is growing in so many different directions. So, if you are interested in my recipes, which I will post here from time to time, and those to come of many others, check out my new group!!! http://www.polyvore.com/join_new_group_recipe_change/set?id=14662849Time for lunch!!! LOL!!

Spent most of the day watching the snow come down and dreaming of Key West. Not a very productive day, unless you consider the sets on Polyvore:
Nice to dream, but I wish I could hop on a plane now!! There is one theme that will probably appear here over and over, and that will be Key West! I apologize in advance, but I cannot change where my heart resides, and it is definitely in the Keys. Sweet Dreams All!!

Creation of Shonassie-ville!
Hello!!
Today is the day that I begin the new adventure in blogging. While I consider myself to have the heart of a writer, my life has not followed that path. Now is the time to reconsider and see maybe just what I am made of! I may have a few loyal friends and family that find their way here to follow me, but I'm not really going to focus on any of that. I am here to explore, to teach, to investigate, to have a good time, to sound off when I can't find any other place to do it, and most of all to relax.
I live in Michigan, and am a forty something mother of one darling daughter who both enchants me and frustrates me, but isn't that what it's supposed to be about?? My Husband and I have been married for 24 years, together for 26, and why any two people should have to put up with each other for that long is beyond me!! LOL!! I love him, and I guess everything else is a moot point, it's just part of the game!!
Now don't think that all of the posts here will be about how my daughter is acting or the fight over dinner last night with the husband! I'm actually a very curious, interested snoop, who makes her way through life looking things up, asking lots of questions and getting herself into more than she should probably ever have gotten into. These are the things you will find here. Also, don't expect any rhyme or reason! What interests me now will be old musings in 5 minutes, but then may resurface in 2 months like I never thought about them before. I double dog dare you to try to keep up!!
So for now, suffice it to say I'll be here when I'm here, I'll say what I say and if you enjoy the ride, by all means hang on tight and we'll see where it takes us. For me, it will be about discovery, sorting out, writing it all down and sharing, if anyone cares to know. So Merry Christmas to me, lets see what you have learned in this life and what you can still learn before you reach the bottom of the bucket and your time is up!
